Butterfly Thank You Card

I am still enjoying playing with creating ink blended backgrounds, and this post will feature another card using the same technique but with a different look than that achieved in the 'Add Some Glitter' card I made for the Lavinia Stamps challenge (HERE). Here is a simple Thank you card that I have made for my friend (mentioned in previous posts) to sell.

Basic background with sentiment

I made the background for this card by using my Creative Memories tearing tool to tear two pieces of card to use to mask off my piece of card. I then blended 3 Tim Holtz distress inks (Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord and Victorian Velvet) and stamped an Oakhouse Studio Thank you sentiment in memento ink (Tuxedo Black).

The butterflies in progress

I stamped the Oakhouse Studio medium Charming Butterfly (again in Memento Tuxedo Black) multiple times. The butterflies were then coloured using the same distress inks as we were used for producing the blended background (by splodging the ink on my messy mat and then picking it up with a dry paint brush) before being cut out. I then decided that the butterflies needed some sparkle so added glittery highlights using stickles (I cannot remember the exact colour).

The butterflies stuck to the base card using 3D foam (after spending around 10 minutes deciding how to arrange them)

Choosing a backing colour

All that was then left for me to do was to pick a backing colour, attach them together and to make the folded card (also not forgetting the need to take a final photograph!).

The finished result

Thanks for reading as always,

- Rebecca

Apologies for any slips, brevity, laziness or just a generally bad post, I'm feeling pretty off colour today :(

  2. My oh my Rebecca where do I start! Well first off your upload worked perfectly and secondly I just can't stop looking at this card. It is stunning. The background and then the same colours picked up in the butterflies just perfect and the icing on the cake is the glitter and the placement of them.
Did I also mention that I love this card!! Thankyou for fluttering by #13. Hugs Mrs A.
